City Council Approves Route 31 'Road Diet'
The Geneva City Council approved a resolution supporting and submitting the Route 31 "road diet" plan to IDOT after the highway is resurfaced from Elizabeth Place south into Batavia this spring.

A citizen group working with their ward alderman originally Route 31 Road Dietproposed an idea to the City about a "road diet," which would reduce the number of traffic lanes from four to two (plus a center turn lane).

The modified "road diet" area would run from Forest View Drive to Elizabeth Place on Route 31.

IDOT will ultimately determine if they want to proceed with the "road diet" plan since Route 31 is under state jurisdiction. For more information on the plan, visit the "road diet" webpage.
